About 3 miles road... the rest dirt. There is a side walk at Balboa that ends and connects the trail. Small section of bush whacking to reconnect trail. Just backtrack this section later because the GPS goes onto Balboa which isn't needed. Poison oak in area so be careful. Cross over a few major roads.
