Scenic South Lykken Trail hike - Parker Palm Springs

Trailhead is located 4.3 miles from the hotel. This well-trafficked trail offers great views of the Coachella valley and beautiful wild flowers.
Trail can be done in either direction, or back at forth for 9 miles total. This route shows South to North, one way, which can done partially. Trail can be narrow and rocky.
Driving directions:
Exit the Parker and turn left on Cherokee Way. Immediately turn right on E. Palm Canyon. Continue about 2 miles and then turn left on S. Palm Canyon. (If you continue around the Palm Canyon curve you have gone too far.) Continue about 1.5 miles on S. Palm Canyon. Pass all of the condos and houses up to the open fields. Park along the curb and continue up the right-hand side of the dyke to the trailhead. (There is a sign pointing the direction.) Showcases the wonderful views of Palm Springs, Mt. San Jacinto, and the Coachella Valley. Distance: 3.5 miles. Elevation Gain: 900 feet. Difficulty: moderate. Route: one way, two way, or out and back.
Important notes: These trails are remote and challenging. Pack in case you need to take care of yourself, even for overnight. Hike with a friend or tell a friend where you will be hiking. Carry more water than you think you need, at least one liter per hour. Do not continue hiking when half of your water is gone. Protect yourself from the run: sunscreen, layers, hat, sunglasses, and good footwear. The weather can change quickly. Know your route. Beware of rattlesnakes, and watch where you put your hands and feet. keep children near you. Stay on the trail.
